School House Pork

Of all the things the government does that drives me insane is how they grossly earmark nearly ever bill. In some cases, they use these earmarks as legal bribes for votes. I was reading "School House Pork", in which an extensive report about the federal Department of Education, finding that lawmakers have secured 5,563  earmarks, worth $2.3 billion over the past decade. Some highlights include funding for a mariachi music program and funding for a program in Missouri aimed at fighting Goth culture. I feel that this money could have been used to further train our teachers, raise their pay, or update the schools.  The school my kids go to didnt have any balls for recess, or paper for the teachers. The teachers have to pay for more school supplies that use to be provided by the schools at no charge to the teachers. Remove all earmarks and invest that money in our future, our children.
